Roofing Information

To preserve an attractive appearance for all homes in the Wilshire Woods neighborhood, the HOA has established bylaws regarding roofing requirements that are mandatory for all homeowners.  In order to maintain some consistency and standards the Board has approved 3 types of roofing replacements from GAF|ELK and 1 new Class 4 Impact Resistant composite shingle from CertainTeed.

Any other style of shingle that is better than the approved composite shingles like ceramic tile, slate,  concrete, or stone coated steel is also approved (depending on color choice) as it meets the same insurance reducing criteria of a class 4 composite, looks great and increases property value.

The CertainTeed Shingle has been approved as of May 2011 and can be found by clicking on this link.

General Process and helpful information:

  • You can use any roofing contractor you desire

  • There are 3 approved GLK composite shingles above that you can choose from

  • Since those 3 were chosen there is a new classification of shingle called class 4 Impact Resistant.  The use of this shingle can save you up to 20% on your annual homeowners insurance policy.  The new approved Class 4 shingle is from CertainTeed and can be found here

  • Any shingle style better than the approved composite shingles like ceramic tile, slate,  concrete, or stone coated steel is also approved (depending on color) as it meets the same insurance reducing criteria, looks great and adds to property value.

  • Once you have selected a roofer and a roofing type you'll need to download the application for modification form and follow the instructions to get neighbor signatures and submit the form and pictures of the roofing material to Dave Mitchell at architecture@wilshirewoods.org

  • If the selected shingle is in the approved selection the process of approval is very quick.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation in complying with the HOA bylaws.  If there are questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to Dave Mitchell at architecture@wilshirewoods.org.
